These small clips are known as "Self Stripping Wire Connectors"

When used with an EL Wire setup they have one very specific purpose:

If you need to hook your 12v EL Driver onto the 12v lighting loom of a vehicle, by using these connectors you do not have to do any soldering to attach the wire.

To use the connectors is easy:

1) The +ve and -ve each need their own connector

2) Just lay the wire from the vehicle you want to attach to inside the connector

3) Then put the wire from the driver next to it

4) Close the connector to complete the circuit and join the wires

These connectors are suggested to be used with our adaptable drivers

Burning Man Festival EL Wire Set for Clothing

This set has been especially designed for you lucky folks off to the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock, Nevada

For those of us that have to slum it with UK festivals, it is also a useful and robust EL Wire set to make you stand out from the crowd.

Burning Man Festival EL Wire Set for Bike

This set has been especially designed for you lucky folks off to the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock, Nevada.

If you want your Bike to stand out then this is what you need - it is just a single 3 metre length of wire with a Driver, we feel it is safest to use a single strand of EL Wire on a bike so there is less danger of loose strands causing any trouble

The Set consists of a special sandproof and waterproof EL Driver making ideal for the harsh conditions of the deserts of Nevada.

The Driver is used to power a single 3 metre long EL Wire and is the bright and robust 3.2mm diameter wire.

Having two of these sets on the bike means you can cover every part including forks and handlebars, it also offers reassurance in case one fails or runs out of batteries you will still be lit up.

Adaptable Driver for 10-40m EL Wire (with Trigger Switch)

This adaptable EL Driver will run between 10 and 40 meters of EL Wire and 150 - 600 square cm (A4) of EL Panel or EL Tape.
It DOES NOT have a flashing function - but has a Trigger Switch on the end of a 1.2 metre cable.

For portable uses, this allows the unit to be held on the body while the switch runs down the sleeve to the hand. For other uses, it allows the driver to be mounted somewhere pretty far from the switch. The switch will latch on when fully pressed down, press for a second time and the switch will latch off.

As explained in detail below, these Adaptable Drivers are very versatile with a whole selection of Power inputs (Mains, Batteries, Direct 12V etc)

Its dimensions are: 8cm x 5cm x 3.2cm (L x W x H) and weighs 130g.

EL Driver Options:

We have found it is impossible to guess how you will be using the EL Wire, EL Tape and Drivers, so you will see on this website we have tried to give you as many choices as possible.

This Driver is no exception as it also has a range of power inputs that hopefully cover most uses:

1) ONLY THE DRIVER

Maybe you have your own 12v 5.5mm/2.1mm input you want to use, perhaps you will be using one of the 2-way power splitters?

Whatever your reason, this option gives you just the Driver (as in the pic above) - without any external power connectors like the rest of these listed below...

2) Crocodile Clips

Perfect if you already have your own 12V battery to run this driver

3) 8xAA Battery Box

This 8xAA Battery Box will plug straight into the driver. It is fairly large (127mm x 72mm x 19mm) but will make this EL Driver portable

4) 3 x 18650 Rechargeable Battery Box

This 3 x 18650 Rechargeable Battery Box will plug straight into the driver. It is fairly large (76mm x 60mm x 19mm) and the leads for the output are 15cm long but will make this EL Driver portable.

5) Rechargeable Li-ion Battery

Much smaller and lighter than the Battery Box, these powerful Li-ion batteries come in a range of sizes

1000mAh: 81g (6.5cm x 3.7cm x 1.8cm)

1800mAh (square): 145g (5.6cm x 3.8cm x 3.1cm)

3000mAh: 172g (7.3cm x 5.6cm x 2.2cm)

Design it so you can go to the toilet easily!!!

This listing is for 3 metres (3 x 1m lengths) of 3.2mm Electro - Luminescent Wire, a portable driver and a 3 way splitter.

The splitter lets you have 3 x 1 metre lengths of EL Wire attached to one driver/inverter.

This 3.2mm EL Wire can be any combination of these colours:

Light Blue (Tron Blue), Purple, Deep Blue, Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime Green, Grass Green, Turquoise-Green and White.

It is vibrant and malleable!

Please send a note with your order if you want different colours.

Because the EL naturally glows blue/green the brightest colour of the wire is the Light Blue, Lime Green and White. The least bright are the Red and Purple as they have to be filtered the most to get the colours right.

EL Driver

The Driver takes 2 x AA batteries (batteries not supplied) - it works by having a built-in voltage inverter that 'inverts' the 3 Volts from the batteries up to the 100 Volts needed to make the EL Wire glow.

This Driver is 9cm x 3.2cm x 2cm with a button for the 4 modes - Off, On, Fast Flash and Strobe.

The Splitter is 40cm long in total. It has 20cm of wire which then splits into 3 separate strands which are all 20cm long and lead to the...

Its not complicated or fiddly - I've just given all those details if you want to plan your costume before you buy the set

Our drivers can run many strips of wire as long as the total length of the wire is under the driver's maximum capacity (in this case under 5m).

With some care, the EL wire can be attached to speaker wire to make patterns or extend the wire over gaps where it isn't needed.

Joining tape and heat-shrink tubing are also available if you want to cut the EL wire and rejoin it or perhaps attach some wire to a different driver.

Cutting the wire into the length you choose is simple... but rejoining it takes care and attention.

You will also definitely need some wire-strippers.

You can happily use the joining tape and heat shrink tubing supplied for a decent join but if the joint is likely to encounter stress (e.g. if it is threaded into clothes that will then be bent and jostle) or if the join may be hard to reach (e.g. behind a panel in a car) then we would advise soldering to avoid future hassle.

There is a dial on the side which lets you adjust the speed of this pattern from the slowest (0.7sec) right up until the wires are strobing so fast they appear constant.

For the DX7 you will need to trim a little off the bottom of this Panel, (use sharp scissors and not a scalpel blade), and ensure that you reseal any 'cut' edges with glue before installing.

For the DX6i you will need to cut a little off the end of the Panel.

(For other models you will need to measure the screen size to see if it will fit)

The Panel size is 85mm x 55mm with a lit area of 80mm x 50mm.

The Driver should be powered straight from the device you are backlighting.

We have a choice of tiny waterproof 4.5v, 6v, 9v or 12v Drivers that are designed to be as small as possible so as not to take up too much space (29mm x 19mm x 24mm (L x W x H))

Installing an EL Panel as a Backlight is a fairly easy procedure that basically involves accessing the screen of your device, cutting the EL Panel to the desired size, then wiring the Driver so it is powered by the device, then finally putting it all back together.

There are plenty of walk-through videos on YouTube showing step by steps on how to install an EL Backlight.

The following colours are currently available:

Deep Blue, Red, Light Blue, White, Pink, Orange and Green

EL Tape is an incredibly versatile material ithat can be bent and wrapped around things.

It can even have holes and shapes punched into it and be cut to your chosen shape.

(Please be careful not to cut too much of the outer electrode off)

15 metres of 2.3mm EL Wire + Driver

This listing is for 15 metres of standard (2.3mm) electroluminescent glow wire with the option of a driver

The wire is available in any of these colours:

Light Blue (Tron Blue), Purple, Grass Green, Deep Blue, Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime Green, Turquoise-Green and White

Because the EL naturally glows blue/green the brightest colour of the wire is the Light Blue, Lime Green and White. The least bright are the Red, Purple and Grass Green as they have to be filtered the most to get the colours right.

You have a choice of drivers for this 15m length of wire:

No Driver = Perhaps you have your own driver, or you will be putting many of them together or cutting this one down so will need a different driver to those offered here = £35

8xAA Driver = The classic reliable workhorse of the EL Driver world. This has a switch with positions for

OFF - Flash - ON

Fresh quality batteries can easily be expected to run this EL Wire for over 7-8 hrs before it starts to fade = £42

Mains Driver = The same Driver as above but with a mains adapter instead of an 8xAA Battery Box to power it = £43

Mains + Portable Driver = The Driver has a choice of inputs - the 8xAA Battery Box or a Mains input = £45

Rechargeable Driver = The same driver but with a 3000mAh Li-Ion rechargeable battery. The Rechargeable Battery also comes with an Intelligent Li-ion Charger = £60

The wire has a connector on it so is ready to plug into an EL Driver

This wire comes with a standard connector so simply plugs into any EL driver - this makes it easy to change between coloured wire on one driver

by using splitters you can also connect different strands to the same driver

This neon wire can be cut into smaller lengths and attached to another driver

Our drivers can run many strips of wire as long as the total length of the wire is under the driver's maximum capacity

It is easier to buy it from us with the connectors attached but if you need to, then with some care, the EL wire can be attached to speaker wire to make patterns or extend the wire over gaps where it isn't needed

Joining tape and tubing for attaching EL Wire is available from our website - this is if you want to cut the EL wire and rejoin it or perhaps attach some wire to a different driver

Adaptable Driver for 20-60m EL Wire

This handy item is a 12v Driver / Inverter which will run between 20 and 60 metres of EL Wire.

Please be aware that this Driver, when switched 'ON', will go straight into 'Flash' mode before 'Continuous ON'.

Running any less wire than 20m will reduce the lifespan of the wire and strain this driver as it is being overpowered.

The Driver has a switch on the back for either continuous ON or Flashing

The size of the Driver is: 12cm x 6.5cm x 3cm and weighs 222g.

This is a very powerful inverter that not only runs very long lengths of EL Wire but does so much brighter than most other drivers!

Using splitters it can run as many strands as you like as long as the total is under 60 metres

1) ONLY THE DRIVER

Maybe you have your own 12v 5.5mm/2.1mm input you want to use, perhaps you will be using one of the 2 Way power Splitters?

Whatever your reason, this option gives you just the Driver (as in the pic above) - without any external power connectors like the rest of these listed below...

2) Crocodile Clips

Perfect if you already have your own 12V battery to run this driver

3) 8xAA Battery Box

This 8xAA Battery Box will plug straight into the driver. It is fairly large (127mm x 72mm x 19mm) but will make this EL Driver portable

4) 3 x 18650 Rechargeable Battery Box

This 3 x 18650 Rechargeable Battery Box will plug straight into the driver. It is fairly large (76mm x 60mm x 19mm) and the leads for the output are 15cm long but will make this EL Driver portable.

5) Rechargeable Li-ion Battery

Much smaller and lighter than the Battery Box, these powerful Li-ion batteries come in a range of sizes

1000mAh: 81g (6.5cm x 3.7cm x 1.8cm)

1800mAh (square): 145g (5.6cm x 3.8cm x 3.1cm)

3000mAh: 172g (7.3cm x 5.6cm x 2.2cm)

5000mAh: 265g (6.0cm x 5.8cm x 3.9cm)

All of these Li-ion Batteries come with an intelligent recharger

This adaptor plugs into the car lighter socket. It is fused and ends with a 5.5mm/2.1mm jack plug so it can be used with any of our 12v Drivers or accessories

8) 2 way Splitter for 12V Power Input (5.5mm)

If you're thinking of running two of these units off of one power source, then get yourself one of these splitters.

Please note this is a Splitter from the Battery to the Driver, so you would only need one Battery pack for 2 x Drivers.
