These Splitters allow you to run up to six separate strands of EL wire from just one Driver/Inverter (or another Splitter).

The Splitter is 40cm in total length and the connector wire is 20cm long.

EL Wire Care
EL Wire is a very robust material - it can withstand fairly extreme temperatures between -20°C and 50°C. It is durable and the wire itself is water resistant. If the wire is likely to get wet or even be in a humid environment then make sure the end of the wire has been made fully waterproof as the connection point is sensitive to moisture.
Even if the material itself is hardy, like any electronics it has to be looked after if you want it to last a long time.
This goes double if the EL Wire is going to be worn and where it will be exposed to various stresses that electrical items are sensitive to.
There are some tips on the back page to get the most out of your EL Wire, but you must also remember that the life of your
EL Wire will be reduced if it is exposed to repeated bending stress, extreme pulling tension or humid conditions.
EL WIRE WITH CONNECTORS ATTACHED
All the EL Wire, EL Tape and EL Panels supplied by elwirecraft already have connectors attached and are ready to plug straight into a driver
(please note we always have stocks of EL Wire with connectors attached in lengths of 10cm, 50cm, 1metre, 3metre, 5metre, 10 metre, 15 metre and 25 metre)
The connectors for EL wire are generally universal - these are connectors that either attach to an EL Driver or will fit into a splitter that comes off of a driver
If you are cutting a piece of EL wire you may also want to put a cap on the end of it so these are supplied too
Cutting EL Wire couldn't be simpler, but re-attaching it is fairly easy but takes a little time and patience and is explained step by step in the instruction booklet

Because the EL naturally glows blue/green the brightest colour of the wire is the Light Blue, Lime Green and White.
The least bright are the red and purple as they have to be filtered the most to get the colours right.

5 X EL Wire Connectors
The connectors for EL wire are generally universal.
These are 'male' connectors that can be soldered onto EL Wire if it is cut to a different length than supplied in. They are available in white or black.
With this connector, the EL Wire can then be plugged into an EL Driver or splitter.
If you are cutting a piece of EL wire you should always seal the end - either with proper end caps or a dab of glue
Cutting EL Wire down to a size you want couldn't be simpler, but re-attaching takes a little time and patience
There are items you will need when cutting EL Wire - wire strippers, solder and soldering iron plus copper tape and heat shrink tubing
If you need the copper tape, heat shrink tubing and end caps as well, then it may be best for you to get all that in our EL Wire Repair Kit
2 way Switch Splitter with "Middle: ALL ON"
2 Way Splitter with "Middle: ALL ON" Switch
These splitters are a handy and cheap way of making different parts of your EL costume/project light up
The EL Splitter Switch is simply a 2 way splitter with a 3 way switch on it
the switch has three positions:
Switch to the left: Channel A ON + Channel B OFF
Switch to the right: Channel A OFF + Channel B ON
Switch in the middle: Both Channels ON
(we also have another "Both OFF" switch splitter - on this one, the Switch in middle is both channels OFF)
The spitter is 20cm in total and it is often used with extender wires running down the sleeve to allow the switch splitter to sit in your hand

This "Middle: All ON" Switch Splitter is useful is you want to control the EL Wire of two different parts of the same project
(This costume is made slightly more complicated by the fact the Mask part is constantly ON - a full description is below)
On this costume there is a two-way splitter straight after the EL Driver
Channel 1 leads up to the head part of the costume so this is constantly ON
Channel 2 leads to the Splitter Switch
The Splitter Switch itself is a 2 way splitter so coming out of this is:
Channel A goes to the EL Wire that makes the Body of the costume
Channel B goes to the EL Wire that makes the Legs of the costume
The wearer can then control if they want it all lit up, or just the body lit, or just the legs lit up

2 Way Switch Splitter with "Middle: ALL OFF"
These splitters are a handy and cheap way of making different parts of your EL costume/project light up
The EL Splitter Switch is simply a 2 way splitter with a 3 switch on it

This "Middle: All OFF" Switch Splitter is useful is you want to overlay two different designs onto one project
This is a mask that was made with two different designs on it. On one channel of the splitter is the EL Wires of the Alien Face, the other channel connects to the EL Wires for the Crazy Face
The wearer can have the mask with the Crazy Face showing and then, when they want to freak people out, just flick the switch across so the Alien Face appears

Enclosed Battery Box (8 x AA) - 12V PORTABLE POWER PACK
This handy item is an enclosed battery box that takes 8 x AA batteries (batteries not supplied) and gives an output of 12v.
*Please note this is just a battery box, IT IS NOT AN EL DRIVER/INVERTER. They are available as a power supply for our EL Drivers or EL Sequencers.*
The size of this power pack is:
127mm x 72mm x 19mm and the lead for the output is 17cm long with a 2.1mm/5.5mm plug on the end.
This is a useful item for when you need to power a 12v appliance that you want to make portable
REMEMBER:
Standard alkaline batteries are 1.5v each, so 8 of them will make 12v, however rechargeable batteries are only1.2v each, so 8 of them in this battery pack will only produce 9.6v.

This handy item is a battery box that takes 3 x 18650 batteries and gives an output of just under 12V
*Please note this is just a battery box IT IS NOT AN EL DRIVER/INVERTER. They are available as a power supply for our EL Drivers or EL Sequencers.*
18650 batteries are the long round flat ended rechargeable 'INR' or 'IMR' batteries which have become popular since they are used in vaping rigs.
We have made this battery box to power the 12v EL Drivers and Sequencers,
The 18650 batteries are 3.7v each, so the power input from this Battery Box with 3 is a total of 11.1V
We have found this barely makes a difference when powering EL Drivers compared to the convenience of these rechargeable batteries
This Battery Box comes with a standard 2.1mm/5.5mm connector
The size of the Battery Box power pack is 76mm x 60mm x 19mm and the output lead is 250mm long.

12V Rechargeable Li-ion batteries & chargers
These batteries have been specially made for EL Wire Craft and are made with the highest quality Lithium Polymer technology.
Whilst trying out different battery systems, we found that many of them exaggerated the milliamp/Hour ratings. These batteries are within 10% of the rating at which they have been given.
They also feature overcharge protection.
They do not have their own on/off switch as we found this was unnecessary and just added another element that could fail.
We have these batteries in five different sizes with the following weights and dimensions:
1000mAh: 81g (6.5cm x 3.7cm x 1.8cm)
1800mAh (Square): 145g (5.6cm x 3.8cm x 3.1cm)
3000mAh: 172g (7.3cm x 5.6cm x 2.2cm)

Splitter for 2.1mm/5.5mm 12V power supply - use 1 power supply
Here we have splitters for a 2.1mm/5.5mm 12v power supply.
This is extremely useful if you have multiple EL drivers that you want to run off a single power supply.
The total length of the splitter is 400mm with 190mm before the split.
